Suggested Procedure* from some horse owners in Australia.
Suggested Use for Feed: Dissolve 3 tbsp in 15 oz of water Put 2 tsp of dissolved magnesium solution onto the feed twice a day Increase every three days the dosage by 1 tsp per feeding until you reach 8 tsp. If your horse's manure is softened at any time, back off a dosage until the bowels have built up a tolerance. Slowly add magnesium to your horse's diet to avoid scouring. if your horse is not showing any signs of loose manure, you can continue to increase the dosage as before. After a month on magnesium, your horse may have loose manure. That is a sign that your horse is receiving more magnesium than needed. Reduce the dosage to the previous level.
Suggested Use for Hoof Soak: Add 1/4 c of magnesium flakes into a bucket with two gallons of warm water. Soak the hoof for 15 min and then let stand for 5 minutes. Rinse off the hoof with warm water.
Suggested Use for Bath: Add 1 c of magnesium flakes into a 5 gallon bucket of warm water. While the flakes dissolve, hose your horse off. Scrap any water off your horse.
